The Aftermath

The search for answers

The newly established World Government Organisation or WGO commissioned an investigation to be conducted to establish the cause of the catastrophe.

Teams of scientists and investigators were sent to Mallera-9, not knowing what to expect.

Since the experiment no one had returned since many had believed the Island would have been completely destroyed.

But more awaited those who returned.

Mallera-9 Syndrome

The teams were surprised to find the island largely intact and stable however shortly after arriving the male members of the party began to suffer extreme hay-fever type symptoms followed by extreme pain and nausea.

In the following hours they were evacuated, with tumour like growths appearing around their eyes and mouth.

Eventually even the support vessel had to depart as their male crew members began to display symptoms similar to the male scientists who landed on the island.

Within 4 days all male members of the landing party and all male crew members on the support ship were dead.

An exclusion zone of 400km was in place around Mallera-9 with an international ban on Non-Research activity in the Zone.

Only Females could go there.

It would be known going forward as “The Zone”

A true No-Mans Land.
