Heavy Assault Unit

HAU

Heavy Assault Units were first designated after operation Mallera-Deep where there was a capability gap for area suppression. Heavy assault units were selected from Standard Combat Unit ranks and consisted of units who were rated stronger and fitter on entrance tests. Key missing factor was that after just months of service much of the physical conditioning differences between individual units were largely flattened out due to the similarity in diet and activity levels.

Heavy Assault Units in Chem Combat Gear

Heavy Assault Units typically carry heavier weapons, often requiring Chemical Gas Gear to deploy these weapons, they have limited visibility and situational awareness during combat. Frequently becoming the target of enemy fire, unsupported HAUs generally get taken out of action very fast.

Often in the heat of combat, HAUs will deploy their heavy weapons, dispersing the gas and remove their gas gear to fall back, using light weapons. This gives them an effective edge over the confused enemy who is affected by the gas.
